Extra Information

I like to cosplay at Ren Fests as a pirate. I've done a lot of theater, from acting to directing to designing. I have a lot of hobbies, including playing the ukulele, playing board and PC games, writing fantasy fiction, traveling, reading detective novels and gardening. I read tarot cards. I looove Korean sword fighting and Aussie Rules Football. Right now I'm going back to grad school while teaching special education with a focus on math, which keeps me chair and computer bound quite a bit and has led to a sizeable weight gain, much to my chagrin. I'm working on getting out more and exercising again, but time for that is limited right now. I'm developing a three-tier math curriculum for an Applied Math class that incorporates writing about real life situations and problems that involve math as well as developing group problem solving techniques and individual skill building. I want math to be fun, and I think the key to that is expanding kids' experiences with it. And maybe puppets ; ) I like to drive. Two sausage McMuffins and a large chocolate iced coffee is what I consider a power breakfast. I believe packing snacks for a long trip is an art form, and everywhere you go you should try at least one strange new junk food item. Buffalo wings and a beer or a bloody steak and an Amber Bock is my traditional "We defeated ignorance for another year and lived to tell the tale!" celebratory dinner. I'm a fairly private person. I'm not married, nor in a relationship, but I'm happy with that. I don't have kids, nor do I plan to-- it's not that I don't like kids, which would be bad, because I work with them almost every day, it's just that I feel the relationship thing should happen first; since it didn't, I'm good with that. I like pets, and was practically raised by dogs as a child. I kind of feel like TV and movies suck the creative juices out of a person if engaged in too much, so I try to avoid those things quite a bit, even though there are shows I enjoy from time to time. Truth be told, however, I don't have a lot of time for those things anyway-- life right now is a lot of essay and paper writing, rinse, lather, repeat. I consider myself a humanist and a non-denominational Christian; mainly, I like studying different beliefs and making up my mind for myself about what I do and do not believe.

I like meeting new people, especially people that I don't seem to have much in common with. I like hearing their take on life, what they like and don't like, what they see as true in the world. I like to hear about other people's hobbies, what they think is cool. Sometimes, it's fun to compare our differences as well as what we have in common. Because of my schedule, it's easiest to chat online. I like to hear about people's experiences, both the good and the bad. What makes you you? What are your answers to the infamous "36 Questions"?
